Dr. Stephan Marini received the Laurea degree in electronics engineering from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain, in 2005. In June 2001 he joined the “Departamento de Comunicaciones”, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, in the frame of the European Union Project “Millimeter-wave and Microwave Components Design Framework for Ground and Space Multimedia Network” (MMCODEF, V European Framework Programme). Since 2005 he has been an Assistant Professor with Departamento de Física, Ingeniería de Sistemas y Teoría de la Señal, Universidad de Alicante, Spain, where he became Associate Professor in 2012. In 2009 he obtained the “José Castillejo” fellowship from the Spanish Government for a short stay (four months) at the LEMA laboratory (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland). His current research interests include numerical methods in computer-aided techniques for the analysis and design of microwave and millimeter passive components based on waveguide technology, scattering and periodic structures. Since October 2015 he is the director of the Microwave and Applied Computational Electromagnetics Group (GMECA, http://web.ua.es/es/gmeca/), Instituto Universitario de Física Aplicada a las Ciencias y Tecnologías, Universidad de Alicante.
